En route 02: Finland and Austria

The Goethe Insitute in Helsinki and the Sarjakuvakeskus Comics Center invited us to come to Helsinki for a small ORANG exhibition in late october. We had the pleasure to stay in a beautiful residence nearby the Comics Center. As you can see, there were three of us: Line Hoven, Verena Braun and me. At Sarjakuvakeskus Comics Center, we held a workshop with mainly professional participants.
One month later, I travelled to Vienna to visit the young Austrian book fair Buch Wien. Along with fellow artist Mawil, I gave a lecture in the beautiful bar phil.

En route 01: Switzerland and Russia

I recently started to travel about. Here are some impressions of the destinations.
First I went to Switzerland to be part of the beautiful animation festival Fantoche in Baden. Unfortunately I don't do animation, but Kati Rickenbach invited me to help her out with portraying the festival. From Baden we went to stay for some days in Zurich, working in the Strapazin studio. Finally we arrived at the Cartoon Museum Basel (photo above), where we accompanied a guided tour.
Next travel destination was Saint Petersburg, where we visited the small comicfestival Boomfest (second photo). Among other things, I did a lecture there about comics in Germany, along with Marlene Krause, co-founder of the comic anthology Two Fast Colour (photo below).

Together with Kati Rickenbach I edited the new issue of Strapazin.
I also did the dinosaur image below, as far as I know it is shown as advertisement in cinemas. Our Strapazin contains works of Moki (she did the cover you can see here, but also illustrations inside the issue), Émile Bravo, Ignacio García Sánchez, David Heatley, Félix Díaz, Nikol, Peng Peng, Olivier Schrauwen, Anete Melece and Haina.

Comic radio

We started to do a radio show at the independent radio station FSK. We are planning to do six shows a year. Of course the show is in German, so in case you don't understand German it's useless to listen to it. Anyway, you can download the content here: http://comickabinett.blogspot.com.

Exhibition in Yerevan

Starting 5th of june, there will be an exhibition about contemporary german newspaper strips at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Yerevan, including "Archetyp" by Ralf König, "Strizz" by Volker Reiche, and "Im Museum", the daily strip I still design together with Jan-Frederik Bandel.

Graphic novels in Frankfurt

From 27th of Mai to 23th of June, the Hugendubel store in Frankfurt is presenting a substantial selection of graphic novels. June 6th, Mawil, Flix, Ulrich Scheel and me will be there to present our works and answer questions.

ORANG#08 comes in june

We put together the new issue of ORANG recently. The book will be published in midth-june. Part of the new collection, along with works of Arne Bellstorf(he did the cover), Anouk Ricard, Moki, Klaas Neumann, Ancco, Nadine Gerber, Verena Braun, Line Hoven, Till Thomas, Yan Cong, KAGO Shintaro and Marijpol, is a sci-fi story I did. Exhibition in Basel

Tomorrow is the vernissage of an exhibition in the Cartoonmuseum Basel, showing works of several cartoonists, comic artists and fine artists, including some stuff of me and Kati Rickenbach (you can see her on the left, working on a picture for the Cartoonmuseum).

At the literature festival "Vattenfall Lesetage" in Hamburg, Peter Gaymann and me will have a conversation with moderator Andreas Platthaus at the Museum für Kommunikation. I guess we will talk about our work(??). But I don't know...
